Here are some notes from David Wood, answering common questions about Water Maintenance.
Where is the water located?
- Above the highway in a big holding tank. If you would like to take a walk to see where the holding tanks are, let Dave know, and we can arrange for an early morning stroll sometime in July.
What does “Regular Water Maintenance” actually look like?
- Clean the filter at the holding tanks where the water comes into the first small tank.
- Make sure the stream is flowing into that small tank
What does cleaning the filter entail?
- First stir the small tank with a big stick to swirl up the mud on the bottom so that it will flow out the drain pipe.
- Drain or flush out the small tank out by lowering the pipe
- The small tank feeds the big tank. The big tank should be full up to a foot below the rim of the big tank.
NOTE: Occasionally David flushes out the big tank as well
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WATER?
If the water pressure in the houses are low, a person must go check each house to see if there are any leaks around their water source.
If so, alert the home owner.
Each home has a shut off valve.
David says that there is also another holding tank above David’s house. It is a stand-by water source.
